2014About three weeks ago, my laptop, which is also my main (only) machine for all my photography work, die on me. Apparently, the hard drive die . . .
It’s not the end of the world but everything goes to a halt . . . I have photos to complete and I have deadlines . . . so scramble scramble scramble.
I got myself a temporary laptop, install all the software needed, in the process I realized I have forgotten most of my username and password for the sites where I bought all the software, so I have to reset all the password. After that I have to setup and tweak all the software to my prefer setting and liking, install all the presets and plugins, rebuild all the batch processing algorithm and so on so on so on. That took a while, much longer than I expected. A lot more complicated than I expected.
The temporary machine work just fine, it’s pretty quick and efficient (when compare to my dead laptop), it got me going with my work again, but this time I have decided that I want to go with a desktop instead of laptop. With a desktop, I must setup a workstation, unlike when I am using my laptop, I work anywhere and in any postures (most postures will make my chiropractor scream). Sometimes I even work from my bed, ya, super unhealthy, I know. By having a static and permanent workstation, I feel I will be a lot more focus on my work and perhaps more efficient as well.
So I finally got my desktop this week, I have to redo all the reinstalling and resetting all over again, and again those took a while, I am so looking forward to not doing the same thing again for a while, hope this desktop will last for at least 10 years (wishful thinking here, I will be happy with 3).
Everything is finally back to normal, of course I am behind a bit, so it is time for me to bury my head in the keyboard and play catch up. So work work work and go go go for days to come. I am actually looking forward to it :)
